Announcing the The Nau Center for the Study of the American Civil War’s Website

I am pleased to announce that the website of the John L. Nau III Center for the Study of the American Civil War is now live and can be viewed by the public. Go to for more information about all of the Nau Center’s events, internships, affiliated faculty, our book prize, etc.

As the Nau Center’s new Digital Historian and Archivist, I will be in charge of maintaining our website, our social media channels, and directing work on several upcoming digital projects. Stay tuned for more information.

This is a very exciting week for the Nau Center. It  will officially open with an inaugural event this Friday, October, 16, at 3:30 PM at the University of Virginia in Charlottesvilla, VA.

Drs. Gary Gallagher, Elizabeth Varon, Edward Ayers, and Thavolia Glymph will be discussing the current state of Civil War scholarship and how the Nau Center can contribute to our understanding of the nation’s bloodiest conflict.

You can also read more about Dr. Gallagher’s three-decade long career in researching and writing about the war on a recent news post on UVA Today. Also be sure to check out a video celebrating Gallagher’s career posted below:
